Fridge Club vs Cozi

Both help a family share one week. Cozi keeps it in an app on everyone’s phone. Fridge Club turns it into one printed page on the fridge. Here’s an honest look at which one fits your family.

Cozi is a great fit if…

  • Everyone in your family has a phone, and checks it
  • You want shared shopping and to-do lists that update in the store
  • You’d like to start free and don’t mind a few ads

Fridge Club is a great fit if…

  • You want the week visible to everyone, including kids without phones
  • You’d rather open an app ten minutes a week than ten times a day
  • You like a printed page you can talk through, and scribble on

Same goal, different place

Cozi has been helping families organize since 2006, which makes it one of the longest-running family apps around. It puts a shared calendar, shopping lists, to-dos and recipes in one app that everyone in the family can open on their own phone.

Fridge Club shares the goal and changes the place. You plan the week on your laptop or phone, and it turns into one printed page on the fridge. The app is where the planning happens. The fridge is where the family actually reads it.

What Cozi does well

Cozi’s shared lists are genuinely handy. Someone adds milk at home, and whoever is at the store sees it right away. It’s simple to start, there’s a free version to try, and one paid plan covers the whole family.

If your family already lives in its phones and likes it that way, Cozi does that job well, and has for a long time.

Where a page on the fridge works better

An app only works for the people who open it. The youngest kids usually don’t have phones, grandparents may not want another app, and even the grown-ups don’t always check before they leave the house.

A page on the fridge is just there. Everyone sees the week on their way past, without unlocking anything, and it’s the natural thing to talk through over breakfast. It also works with a pen: when practice moves, you cross it out and carry on.

What each one costs

Cozi has three plans. The free version has ads and, at the time of writing, only lets you add events for the next 30 days. Cozi Gold is $39 a year, removes the ads and adds premium calendar features. Cozi Max is $79 a year and adds AI tools like an automatic meal planner.

Fridge Club is $39 a year, or $5.99 a month, with two Sundays free to try it. There’s no free version and there are no ads in any version. So next to Cozi Gold, the choice isn’t really about money. It’s about whether you want the week on your phones or on your fridge.

Can you use both?

Yes, and some families might. Cozi’s shopping list is handy in the store, and Fridge Club is made for the week on the fridge. Fridge Club also has a to-do row on the page, and a grocery list that remembers what you buy every week is coming soon, so over time you may not need two apps.

So which one should you choose?

Choose Cozi if your family runs on phones, you want live shared lists, and you’d like a free option to start with.

Choose Fridge Club if you want the whole family to see the week without needing a phone, you’d rather plan once on Sunday than check an app all week, and you like the idea of a page you talk through at breakfast. You can try it for two Sundays before you decide.

What’s actually different

A page, not another app.

Plan for ten minutes on Sunday. The rest of the week lives on the fridge, not in a notification.

Everyone can read it.

The six-year-old, Grandma and the babysitter. No phone, no login, no app to install.

No ads, ever.

You pay for Fridge Club, so there’s nothing to sell you inside it, and your family’s week is never sold.

Questions about switching

Still deciding? Write to us. We’ll give you a straight answer, even if it’s Cozi.

Is Fridge Club a Cozi alternative?

Yes, for families who want the week on the fridge instead of in an app. You plan on your laptop or phone, and Fridge Club turns it into one printed page everyone can read.

Is it cheaper than Cozi?

It’s the same as Cozi Gold, $39 a year. Cozi also has a free version with ads. Fridge Club doesn’t have a free version, but you can try it for two Sundays.

Do the kids need phones?

No. The week is on the fridge, so anyone who can read can see it. Older kids can get their own link to add things if you want them to.

Can I keep using Cozi for shopping lists?

Of course. Plenty of families will use both. Our own grocery list, which remembers the things you buy every week, is coming soon.

Does Fridge Club have ads?

No, never. You pay for it, so there’s nothing to sell you, and your family’s information is never sold.

Is it good for cutting down screen time?

That’s what we built it for. You plan on a screen for ten minutes on Sunday, and the rest of the week lives on paper, where nobody needs to unlock anything to see it.
